Who doesn’t love a weekend with the girls?!! This past weekend, i went to a women’s retreat at Kavanaugh Retreat Center right outside of Louisville, KY. I must admit it was great to unplug from cell and internet and just laugh and eat and enjoy the company of other women. There were women from all walks of life – grandmothers to college students. After sharing, laughing and crying together – I have bonded with all these women. I have such a deep gratitude and appreciation for the privilege of knowing their stories and the opportunity to share mine as well. I just can’t say enough about this little retreat at Kavanaugh. Women at the Cross put all of this together.. they have retreats in Louisville, Colorado and soon to be Alabama. I would recommend anyone to sign up!!! I just thought you would like to meet some of the amazing -truly authentic -women that impacted my life this weekend.
We were so busy that i didn’t get a lot of time to take photos (although they did ask me to do all the group photography) – I was able to get away for about 5 minutes to take these photos around Kavanaugh Retreat Center.

I spent the little time i had to play with photography, looking for signs of life admist the deadness of winter. Here is a sign that there is life in this broken dark branch. GREEN
which is also my favorite color.

And for the WATC ladies: One of the common sayings for the weekend.. just click and download.. it is yours to use however you like ![]()

January 25, 2010Event Photography: Ryland Lakes|Lazy Z Fishing
September 26, 2009This past weekend was the first event for Lazy Z fishing.. a non-profit that my family started to honor my grandpa and teach kids who wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn how to fish. You may remember the whole story from a previous post. We had about 15 kids come out to learn to fish and they had a blast. I am the official event photographer for the family. That is what happens when a there is professional wedding photographer in the family. Ha – but i love it!! Ryland Lakes graciously allowed Lazy Z to use their facilities. With beautiful outdoor scenery like lakes and rolling hills, it was perfect for some outdoor photography. We had so much fun. Here are some of the event pictures.

They learned how to tie a fisherman’s knot.

They learned about bait

They learned about casting.

They basically learned how to catch fish.

this little girl caught 3 FISH.. some of the boys were a little upset to say the least

Here is my brother – one of the founders of Lazy Z fishing for kids.

It was a very successful event – WAY TO GO!!
